Wow.. today was a money making day! I am excited about my purchases today. It was all about Rite Aid! I am truly growing to love that store!

2 rolls of Packaging tape
1 bottle of Garnier Fructis Shampoo.

Total paid out of pocket: $21.61 (after coupons)
Total Rebates: $35.54

Total spent after rebates? ZERO. Totral Profit: $13.93!

You can't beat shopping and making money off of it at the same time!!!

Keeping Track.

OK, so I haven't really been keeping track of my savings vs. spending, so starting right now I am going to keep up with everything I spend, ow much it was worth, and total savings. I hope to find out that I am really racking up a lot of savings!

Today, I went to Walgreen's because they had a 15% off coupon for today only. I bought 4 bottles of Starbuck's Frappucino, 4 bubble envelopes, and a bottle of Garnier Fructis Hairspray. After the 15% off and the coupons I had my total bill was $2.26. I then received $2 in Regster Rewards to use on my next purchase! This made the whole thing like spending 26 cents!

Totals: $16.50 worth, paid $2.26, received $2 in RR Grand Total: 26 cents!

I will keep a running tab and at the end of the month will update on the grand totals!

Wednesday Super Doubles Savings!

OK, so today... I scored and BIG! Harris Teeter was having Super Double Coupons, which means they will double coupons up to a face value of 1.98. Woo hoo! I can finally use those $1 and more coupons and make it really worth something!

Off this morning to Harris Teeter I go... while I didn't do super super awesome, I am thoroughly happy. I bought $96 worth of groceries for $32. Not too shabby... sorry, I forgot to take a picture, but I did get several things for "free" after sales and coupons!

This evening I go back... and wow, my score was AMAZING! I brought home $55 in groceries (pre sales and coupons) for $6.06. Taht is right folks SIX dollars!!! I cannot believe it! I am shocked, and now totally hooked on this coupon game! Here's my score this evening:

Today I think was not a bad day! I hit several different stores, and got lots of deals and rebates coming my way!

Staples:
Backpack 39.99 -$10 coupon =29.99 I will get 29.99 back in Staples rewards!
Electric Pencil Sharpener 10.00, will get $10 rebate making it FREE!
Pack of Mechanical pencils 2.99, will get $2.99 rebate making it FREE!
PAck of Highlighters 4.99, $4.99 rebate =FREE!
Pack of Gel pens 4.99, $4.99 rebate =FREE

So basically for tax only I got about $63 worth of stuff for basically free!

1 Bottle of Kraft Ranch dressing 1.69 on sale ($1 coupon)
2 (4) packs of AA Duracell Batteries $3 each on sale (75 centsx 2 coupons)
1 tube of Colgate Total Toothpaste 2.50 on sale ($1 coupon)

So as you can see all my items were on sale, and I used coupons for most. BUT in addition, Kroger had a promotion where if you buy 10 of certain items, you get an immediate $5 off at the register. So you guessed it, I bought 20 and got $10 off.
My total bill for all this was $20.13. My Kroger plus card savings was 19.34, coupons were 20.25. Not too shabby.... $60 worth for $20.

Then on to Target.
Bought 10 bottles of SoBe water for $1 each. Got a $5 Target GC. Cashed out that purchase for $10.
Next purchase...
Always infinity pads 3.99 onm sale ($4 coupon)
6 Kashi individual cereal bowls $1 each on sale (had 6 $1 coupons)
Alexia snacks 2 for $5 on sale (used a 75 cent off 2 Target coupon and 2 $1 off one coupons)
So I knew I was paying with the GC, and wanted to spend the whole $5. I bought then 2 packs of notebook paper for 50 cents each, and 2 (4) packs of spiral notebooks for 60 cents each.
Total bill as 4.95 after coupons, I paid with the GC< and have 5 cents to spare!

Yep... it is official, I am raising my hand to join in the world of SLACKERS!

I am an official card carrying blogging slacker!

I am not even going to say that from here on out I will try to do better, that I will try to blog more. I know it won't happen! I will say that you will see a post from me when you see one, and if per chance I happen to have one say 2 days in a row, please don't have a stroke. I promise not to do anything so silly as let's say keep up blogging everyday, ok?

So here I am. It's Summer time! The kids are both (finally) out of school. We have had a vacation at the beach, and now it is time to just do what I enjoy most about summer. Sleep late, relax, watch movies, and lounge at the pool. It's a hard life, I know, but someone has to do it, right?

This week I intend to get some scrapbooking done as I haven't done any yet this month! June was a geat month, I got 26 (or was it 36??) pages done! I can't remember, but I know I was very productive. Just ordered some new photos from Snapfish.com, and so my inspiration will arrive in full force soon! OK, not gonna apologize for not blogging lately... I am just gonna jump in here to show you a few pictures I have taken with my new Baby! Yep, that's right, I got a new camera! It is the Olympus SP-565UZ. It is a 10 MP, 20X optical zoom camera... All I can say is wow! I like what I have seen so far!!! Here's a few photos I just took playing around...

The first one is taken with just the zoom.... this is my bleeding heart, I can't wait for it to get bigger and bloom!

This was taken with the macro and zoomed in. (I talk so technical huh? LOL) It is the red bud tree, which actually has purple blooms.

The last 2 were taken on super macro setting. I love these oh so close up shots!!! My poor pitiful hyacinths only half bloomed this year, I am assuming cause of the crazy weather!

Adventures in Cupcakes

So, for days I had been wanting a cupcake. Kristin over on Scrapfreak had the cutest cupcakes made for her by her sister for her birthday. This started my obsession. Then the Pioneer Woman site posted the most awesome looking cupcakes ever. That really got my obsession going. So much so that I knew I had to have a cupcake.

The tragedy struck. I received a letter in the mail from my doctor and lo and behold my cholesterol was high. Bye bye cupcakes... you don't belong here.

After that, it seemed everywhere I turned, all I saw were cupcakes, people making cupcakes, eating cupcakes... it was pure torture! All of my friends over on Scrapfreak added to the torture by teasing me. All I saw were threads with my name and a cupcake somewhere there... whether it was avitar cuppy cakes or pictures!

What's a girl to do? Well, I will tell you.... you run to the store and you buy the fixings for cup cakes! That's right, I am not strong... I have no will power. I needed my cuppy cake!!!

It was a joyous process from start to finish... I cheated, I will admit it. I used a box mix for the cup cake itself. But I mean really, they are just as good right?

They came out so goldenly, perfectly, yummily delicious looking!

So, next the icing. Well, after reading the ingredients in the Pioneer Woman's chocolate icing recipe, I knew there could be no other icing to make. I mean come on, did you see the ingredients in that stuff??

I will say this was about the easiest icing ever made... but I do understand now why she made mini cuppy cakes. That stuff has enough sweet in it to send you into a diabetic coma!!! Oh and it thickens really quick, so frost them fast!

In conclusion, I will say THANK YOU to all my FREAKY friends for pushing me to make these yummy cup cakes!!! (and on Friday, when weigh in day rolls around, you owe me...but we'll discuss that later! LOL)

So if you're now wanting a cup cake, I will invite you to come on over and have one... I have a few left!

Christmas Goodies!

So, I don't usually do a lot of baking and such for the holidays, but there are some things I annually make... Fudge is one of them... dipped cookies or pretzels is another. Well, today, I went crazy! First I dipped 2 bags of Oreos in white chocolate and red and green candy melts. Katie wanted a gift to give to some friends, and we thought this was a great idea! Then I decided to make Chex Mix... cheesy ranch Chex mix to be exact. Then there was the fudge... peanut butter fudge, and then of course my favorite chocolate fudge with walnuts!

So, tell me what is your favorite Christmas treat? What do you bake? What do you have to have some the holiday season? Share with me on your blog your favorite holiday recipe.

Here is mine:

Fudge:
6 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 pound powdered sugar
4 tabespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla

Mix all this together in a pot and bring to a boil. Once the color changes to a nice rich chocolate brown, turn it off, and remove from heat. Then you can add a cup of nuts or not... pour into buttered 8x8 or 9x9 pan and chill until set.

Decorating the tree.... Take 2!

OK, so I have been severely "down" so far this holiday season, and I have figured a lot of it has had to do with the fact taht I was just not happy with my tree. Now now now... it is not ALLLLLL the cats fault. My tree is a live tree, and my ornaments tend to be heavy, so the whole tree was being drug down. It just looked sad, and it made me sad and I didn't even wanna look at it, or turn it on, or be near it! So today, I decided I was taking off all the ornaments, and I replaced them with lighter ornaments that fit this live tree better! Since we (Timothy and I) redecorated, I feel 100% better!!! Take a look at our new tree.... oh and don't pay attention to the crooked star, I fixed it! And if you notice to the right of the tree, someone is eyeing up to see what he is gonna tear off of it already!

I love Christmas Cards!!! I love making Christmas Cards and sending Christmas Cards and getting Christmas cards! I love my Snowman Christmas card holder. It's feeling rather empty. The cards are sloooooooooowwwwwwlllllllllllllyyyyyy trickling in this year! This holder is usually full!!! So, I wanna see from now till Christmas just how full it gets.... so, let's compare...

OK, so I actually missed a day.... I have just been so tired! This running back and forth to the hospital and trying to get things done around here has nearly killed me! Anyway, I was hoping tonight to have a nice post about Christmas shopping. The kids and I went to the mall with high hopes of getting a huge dent in our Christmas shopping, and all we managed to do was eat dinner and walk around for awhile and come home. I just couldn't get myself together enough to actually shop and buy things! Oh well! So tonight I will share my Winter House I have been working on for awhile. It is now 98% finished. I just need to add a couple more things, and I will be all done!!!

All I need is a little more of the Pom Pom ball ribbon, and something to look like Smoke coming out of the chimney! My awesome friend Bethany punched me out some snowflakes to add to the house! Thanks so much Beffy, it made the house look so much more awesome!!!

Short post tonight, but I didn't want to miss a day! Been at work all day, and then in the ER this evening with Dad. (he's ok, but staying overnight at the hospital..)

Today I want to share a new ornament I got this year! I just think it is absolutely adorable. I bought it at my favorite store at Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving... The Christmas Mouse....

Here's a replica of my boys... And if they don't leave my Christmas tree alone... it may be a reminder of what they USED to look like!!! LOL

Christmas Party...

Last night I went to my WMU group Christmas Party at church. I did the decorating for this party, and if I must say so myself, it looked awesome! I had to decorate 8 long tables, and this is what I came up with for simple yet elegant looking table decor.

The centerpiece was a clear plastic plate with a candle hot glued on. Then around the candle I just randomly placed some silver and blue ornaments. I did light the candles...

On either side of the candle/plate I placed a round styrofoam disc and inserted 3 snowflake suckers I made and then between and around it all I just randomly laid silver tinsel.

At the end of the night, everyone got to take home a sucker!

Here is the full view of a table... I really love the color scheme, it is so different from the "norm" of Christmas red and green!

This was my 2nd year doing the decorating, and I am already thinking of what I should do next year!!!

As a bonus, I am throwing in a picture of me all dressed up for the evening... remember this, cause the dressing up and the picture taking do not happen often! LOL

Re-Decorating the tree...

I knew this would be an issue....

I knew they wouldn't be able to resist....

The little beasts, they tried to un-decorate the tree last night! First off, I heard one of them playing with something before I went to bed. Sure enough, Garfield had an ornament and was batting it around the house. About 30 minutes later, I hear a bell jingle... I go and look and the too (not so) innocent creatures were sitting under the tree, and about 3 ornaments were on the floor. This is what I wake up to this morning....

Any suggestions for keeping 2 kitties out of the tree? HELP!!!

Today was the day that the tree needed decorating! Let me just start by saying I HATE putting the lights on the tree. So much so I always wonder what would happen if I just left them off? In the end the lights went on... 8 strands.... 800 little blue lights...

The kids and I all got together and put the ornaments on. This year it was Timothy who didn't wanna do it and Katie who did.. (last year, just the opposite...) but we all managed to work together.

Yes, that is Timothy in his boxers, I warned him I would be taking pictures and I warned him they would be posted on the web. LOL Oh well!!!

OK, in the end I am mostly happy with the tree. I think next year I will go back to my artificial tree, I do not like that the limbs bend when you put ornaments on. All in all, I think it is a great looking tree though, and it sure smells good!!!

Oh boy... I can't believe I have made it through day 3!!! I am definitely on a roll!!!

Today thankfully has not been as eventful as yesterday, but I did manage to get a little something done. Today I finished the decorating of the outside of the house. It is not nearly as festive as some I have seen, but I like it and it certainly won't jack my electric bill up this month! LOL

Here is the front of the hosue... all ready for the holiday season!

Oh and pay no attention to the horrid landscaping.. I need to do somethinga bout that this spring!

Let the Decorating Begin!!

So today is the day the decorating starts! I bought a new wreath and added some floral stuffs I found in the garage to it, and I put up the garland I bought today outside on the porch. Tomorrow I will finish it off by placing bows here and there and putting the garland around the mailbox. Here is my wreath...

Timothy and I also got our Christmas tree. Nothing really exciting, it is just too expensive to go to a tree farm and get a tree, so we took a lovely 3 minute trip to our local Food Lion and bought this fabulous tree... which reminds me I need to water it! Oops!!!

On a sad note, we lost our Mouser boy today. It was very hard, but I had to make the decision to let him go. I was afraid he was suffering too much. I love him too much to see him suffer any longer. He really has never been the same since Pookie died, so I feel he is much happier now! So farewell ole boy! We will always remember you and miss you!!!

My Birthday!!!

Today was my birthday! What a great day I had.... I went to Walmart, cleaned out my garage, cleaned my office, did some laundry.... see a pattern here? LOL

Actually I had a great dinner at mom and dad's house with them and the kids. Katie even made me a cake. (well, mom made the cake, Katie iced and decorated it!) It was gorgeous and delicious!

Katie gave me a great gift of a picture she painted while we were at the beach, and a gorgeous blue poinsettia and a balloon!

I have never seen a poinsettia that color! It is beautiful! Now to keep it out of reach of the kitties!

Timothy did not forget me! He couldn't wait to give me his present, so I got that yesterday.. a new wallet and inside an AC Moore Gift Card! (Guess where I am going tomorrow???)

All in all it has been a great day!

Oh... and Timothy and I played a game of Memory.... that he found in the trunk of my car tonight... I had bought it for a Christmas gift, but he found it. LOL (we had great fun at the beach playing an old Memory game that had been left there by someone else, so I thought it would be a perfect family gift!) So much for surprises huh?

Are you noticing a theme here? Last year she was a Princess, this year a Greek Goddess.... suits her personality just fine. Wonder what next year will bring?

So today was Day 2 of the Kitty Diet. Yes my Fat Boy was told he had to go on a diet. How do you put a cat on a diet you ask? Well, first thing you do is take away the self feeder. You put him on scheduled meals. Seems to be working fine so far. My biggest fear has not been realized... you know the one where you wake up at 2 in the morning with a 17 pound cat sitting on your chest about to eat you? He seems to be adjusting just fine to 3 scheduled meals a day. Starting Monday we will move to 2 scheduled meals a day... and that will be when if you don't see me for a week or so, do call and inquire if I am still in one piece... LOL No for reals, he's a sweetie... how can anything this cute be anything but sweet?

I just bought new stickles!!!

Ye I am a bit excited! I LOVE LOVE LOVE stickles, and I so cannot wait to try out my new ones! I got *most* of the Distress colors and *most* of the new Glitz ones as well!!! They are sooooo pretty!

Now to make matters worse, I have to find new stickles storage... while they were on one shelf it was all pretty... I need more room!!!

OK, I am off to play with the new stickles!!! I'll let ya know how it turns out later!

You may or may not know, but I have ben trying to lose some weight lately. I have been participating in the Biggest Loser Challenge over on Scrapfreak. As of today, I have lost 14 pounds! Not a ton, but honestly I haven't been "trying" too hard! Now I have my focus back, and I am ready to let those pounds roll (right off of me that is....) Tonight I made a big dinner with enough to have for lunches over the weekend! It is a version of the recips Taco Soup (or stew, or as Rachel Ray would say Stoup). My version goes like this:

1 pound ground chicken browned.
1 package taco seasoning
(add this to the browned chicken and add 1/2 cup water. Let simmer for a few minutes.)
Then add:
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can drained corn
1 can Mexican Chili beans

Let all cook and simmer together until well heated through.

It is such a yummy and filling meal!!!

So, I have been struggling for quite some time with my lighting in my scrap area. I have used a small lamp, over head light, and finally a Halogen lamp which gets hot as you-know-where. Today I finally gave in and bought myself a day light lamp. Similar to the Ott lamp, but LOTS cheaper in price. I was at Joann's today, and they had them on sale for 40% off. SOLD! Now I can see what I am working on.... and if you look close at the pic, you can see a sneaky peeky of one style of my Christmas cards this year!

So, I was sitting at my scrap table today, and I looked down at my new sticker letter box. I just got this system a week ago after seeing Lisa's new crate and files system at the crop. So I proceeded to do my system the same way. Little did I know I had this many letters!!! I really do think I have a bit of a Sticker letter/thicker obsession!!! This box does not include my chipboard letters... I think I need a whole box for those alone....

I finally did it.... I knew it wouldn't take me long. I mean really, how long can you stand to sit at home with no car to drive?

We are now officially a TWO CAR FAMILY!!!

Today I went and looked at a car I had been eyeing on the internet all weekend. Before I knew it, I had filled out paper work, and bought myself a new (pre-owned) car!!! This one is really cute I think... it's RED RED RED!!!

Katie, well, she oooh'd and ahhhhh'd over my new one for a minute before she realized that meant my old car was technically "hers" Then I couldn't separate her from her new baby!!!

Has it really been 2 weeks since I blogged? I guess it has! Well, these past few weeks have been a whirlwind of stuff going on! First dad had his knee surgery, and that same night we celebrated mom's birthday. I spent some time packing up and getting ready for a weekend crop... This past weekend I went to Lititz, PA for a crop at a B&B with 4 other girlfriends! It was AWESOME! Our hostess for the weekend was an wonderful woman we met last year at the Cozy Crop House. CINDY!!! You can see her in the post if you click on her name!!! Anyway, It was so great to see her again, and I feel so fortunate to have met her and get to know her and scrap with her again! The crop was truly fabulous, except for my migraine and tummy issues that unfortunately caused me to have to leave early. I was so distraught to have to do that, but was glad once I made it home that I was HOME! This week has been crazy busy with Katie having so many things going on. Next week will prove to be the same! I want to share some pictures with you from my crop, and a few pages I did! Enjoy....

My Pookie is gone...

My heart breaks today as I fear I am mourning the loss of my beloved "old man." I have had him since he was a baby. He turned 17 this past April. He has been such a good cat all his life. Well, no, that's a lie, he was the meanest kitten ever known to man, but he grew into a very loving older cat! He has been with me through several moves and has always made himself at home... and stayed there.

This morning I got up and he was not in his usual spot on the wicker couch on the back deck. I didn't think much of it because Mouser was not there either. I took Katie to school, came home and Mouser was wandering around, but no Pookie. Later in the morning, I went out again, no Pookie. We have known for a few weeks that his time was coming, but he was still able to get around and eat and drink. Him being "gone" this morning was quite a shock. Am I sure he is dead? No I am not... he's just not here. He NEVER leaves the area. Mom and I searched all over our properties. No Pookie. I am afraid he went off somewhere to die, I am sure of it, but I wish I could find him. It is so hard not knowing for sure. It is so hard to say goodbye when you just don't know.... But I fear I must. So, Goodbye Old Man. I love you, and I will miss you!

I hope that by tomorrow I can some print a "retraction" and he has shown back up, but I fear that hope is futile.

Beach Again...

Ever get a "wild hair" so to speak to just go do something? Well, last Sunday while at work, I had this crazy idea that I wanted to go back to the beach. Decided Katie needed a birthday trip! So, on Monday, Katie and I packed up (left Timothy at G &P's to go to school) and we headed to Myrtle Beach! It was a perfect beach day! We met up with Lisa and headed to the ocean for a few hours before checking in to our hotel! Katie wasn't much in the photo mood, but I did get a few I liked!

That night after showering we went to Damon's for dinner and sat by the ocean. It was heavenly! Then we headed up north a bit to The Carolina Opry to see the show Good Vibrations If you ever have a chance to be in Myrtle Beach and love music from the 60's, 70's and 80's, this show is a MUST!!! We both had such a wonderful time!!!

On Tuesday we got up and had some breakfast, then headed to Broadway at the Beach for a little shopping and relaxing! We went in this cool store (which neither one of us had no business in...) called It's Sugar. I was fascinated by all the bulk candy but this display caught my eye the most:

Would ya look at all the purty colors!!! I LOVE M&M's, but refrained. I did manage a small baggie of Gummy Bears, my other favorite!!!
After walking around for a few hours, we decided to go see a movie before heading home. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 was just as good or better than the first!

So, now we are back into the land of reality.... school starts for Katie soon, but we have to get through a few birthdays here first!

First Day of Middle School

My Boy is growing up! He started middle school a week ago! How time flies! His first week was filled with figuring out how to get from class to class, how to find his locker and remember the combination, how to navigate the cafeteria, listening to 6 different teachers instead of one, finding his bus in the afternoon, lugging around a heavy percussion kit for band, and homework already! I hope this second week goes as smoothly as the first! Here's a picture of him on the first day!

When I was growing up I remember times when our family went on what we called a "donut run." This would consist of (sometimes) being woken up after we had gone to bed, climbing in the car, and heading downtown to the Krispy Kreme for hot fresh donuts. Nothing in this world is better than hot fresh Krispy Kremes!!! So, after Katie's concert in July, we were on the way home... reminiscing about the "old days" and waking up Papa Mack and going to get donuts. We all said it would sure be nice to have a hot donut, so off we went to get our dozen! Timothy experienced his very first "donut run." Now granted it wasn't actually the same as I remember, let's face it, if you aren't woken up from a dead sleep, it doesn't much count, right? But, he did get the idea....

This year our July 4th was spent at home. Katie was home from Governor's School. We went over to a friend's house for dessert and a spectacular fireworks show. We also got to see God's fireworks as well, as it was trying to storm!!! Fortunately the scary stuff waited till after we got home! Here are a few pictures... I didn't get too many great fireworks pictures, but there are a couple I really like!

My Katie that is! I got to see her last night at the concert they had for parents, students, etc. She looked beautiful, and as soon as I saw her, I cried, yep, I will admit it, I started boo hoo'ing! I didn't realize I had missed her THAT much till I finally saw my baby!!! After the concert, she came up and hugged and hugged me... she didn't let go for a long time!!! Here are a few photos... the first one is the entire choir, the second is her and their Choral teacher/director. The concert was FABULOUS by the way!!!

Yesterday my baby graduated from 5th grade, and today he spent his last day ever in elementary school! How fast they grow! In just a short month he will start middle school. Where has the time gone? I was thinking yesterday while at the graduation I have been "in" that school for 10 years... Katie's years and then with Timothy. Today is my Sister Leigh's birthday... she'd shoot me if I told you how old she is, but let's just say, she's older than me!!! LOL

The first memories I have of my sister are when she moved in with us when she was around 9 and I was 5. Like any loving sisters, we got along grandly... right from the start. We were the epitome of perfect sisters.... (you belive that right?) OK, truth be told, we fought like cats and dogs. Years have passed but now we get along great, so I wanted to wish my sister the greatest of birthday wishes on this special day!!! And of course you know I cannot have a blog entry without a picture, so let me leave you with this gorgeous picture of how I remember my sister!!!

Today Katie left to go to Governor's School. Accompanied by her dad, her Poppy and her Uncle Butch, she moved everything she would need for 6 weeks into her dorm room. It was a sad day for me because I couldn't be there for her when she left, but she knew I was thinking about her and wishing her the best of luck! I *think* she packed enough... here's a photo of her stuff... it had more of an impact before it was in bags and boxes...

The keyboard went as well, along with a refridgerator that was not in the photo, a tennis raquet, and a page long list of "last minute" items! Fortunately she is not too far from home in case she forgot something....

"Smoke drifting west from a slowly spreading wildfire in eastern North Carolina has led state regulators to upgrade their warning against outdoor activity in the Triangle.

The state Division of Air Quality issued a Code Red warning for the region and for Rocky Mount Thursday afternoon that is expected to remain in effect through Friday.

WRAL meteorologist Chris Thompson said light winds overnight will allow the smoke to sit over the Triangle overnight, so the effects of the smoke will be worse Friday morning. Winds form the southeast could help move the smoke out of the area later in the day, he said."

I waited a whole week to update! I guess you can probably tell that means I am up and about and much more active now! I am heading back to work on the 31st. That is a YAY and a BOO all at the same time! I am still having Physical Therapy twice a week, but I have also added in walking daily. I walked 1/2 mile on Thursday and Friday. Not too much but it is a grand start from having not really walked at all since March! OK, on to some new pages... I went to Archivers this past week with some "scrapping buddies" and I managed to finish 2 pages, and *almost* finish 2 more. I need to finish the other 2, but for now, here are the complete ones:

You'd think I had been gone, right? Nope, just lazy! Nothing exciting going on around here... I am getting better every day, I am walking now with a limp, but walking none the less! I am hoping to go back to work here very soon. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday, so I know I will find out for sure then what the verdict is! For now, I will try to be more consistent with updates! So, I have been a bit slack this week on posting. I'll try to make up for it, ok? I went back to the doctor on Tuesday,and he said things are looking good and I am making progress. I am now allowed to put weight on my foot and try some walking. That has been difficult, but it seems I can walk for miles when I take my pain meds...LOL... I also started physical therapy and am working on the range of motion in my ankle. I go twice a week, and it seems to be helping a lot already. That's really it for the updates here... nothing exciting going on. Here's my most recent page I did yesterday...

That I miss a lot right now by still being off my feet.... Mom and I went shopping today for flowers. I usually buy lots of flowers and plant them myself... grumbling the whole time of course. Today, I couldn't do that, because I can't get into the areas where I plant! I did manage to get a few things, and mom planted them for me! Here's my flower bed...

So, tomorrow, I go back to the Doctor for my 6 week check up. I am a little scared. I am worried about an area or two on my heel and what is gonna have to happen to make it better. To spare you the gorey details, I had an area of excess pressure with the cast on, and it caused a part of the heel to "die." Then I am still having quite a bit of swelling when I sit with my leg dangling. I can't imagine what this will mean in terms of me walking again, and then getting back to work. We shall see I guess... and I will update more after tomorrow!

So add that to my Big Brother, Survivor, Biggest Loser, Hell's Kitchen, Your Mama Can't Dance, and Keeping Up With the Kardashian's list, and you can definitely say I am a junkie! Here's the rub.. In with the new...

This past week has been a not so great week for "things" in my house! First of all last Friday my fridge died! We finally got the new one on Wednesday! Then last night, as I was coming to the computer to sit and relax a bit, the computer chair broke and threw me right on the floor. It was not a comfortable position to be in. I banged my hurt foot on the floor, and apparently wrenched my back, because today that has given me a fit! I surely hope that was the end of things breaking here! I don't know if I can handle any more!!! This evening Dad brought me a new computer chair.. well, not new exactly. It was his old one.. he got a new one... LOL I don't care... no money out of my pocket right? Here's photos of my new this week items...

So, I am abou sick to death of the work crew out in front of my house! They are working now on the drainage system, another step before they pave the road. Here's my view today...

Today was a rather good day! I was able to get out and go to church for dinner. It was so nice to get out for a bit.

I made a card today for some very special ladies who gave me a very nice gift... I think the card turned out very pretty... once of my faves I have ever done!

OK, so it's been a little while since I updated, so I will share some photos here all in one post...

First of all I want to share some pictures I took of some flowers from my flower bed. They are so pretty this year, and the hyacinths smell gorgeous as usual!!

Easter was lo-key for us. The Bunny passed us over, but the kiddos didn't get left out. Katie's gift was a trip to New York, in which she returned home on Easter Sunday. Here she is with a photo she brought home...

The best news I haven't shared yet, was that Katie was accepted into Governor's School for the 2008 session!!! She is over the moon thrilled! This will be an excellent opportunity for her and we are all proud of her!!!

Hey guys.. I am feeling a little better today in the weakness department. By yesterday afternoon, I finally had enough strength to use my scooter thing.... it's not so bad. OK, I had to post this here, because it was just too cute!!! I was working on choosing a winner for the Weekend crop on ScrapHappy. I got all my names cut out, and my bowl was too small, so I opened up the ottoman, and threw them all in there. Before I could get my hand in there to draw a name, in went a kitty! So, he dug around in there a few seconds, and then grabbed one with his mouth.... check out the last picture to see the WINNER!!!!

My New Wheels!

SO, getting ready for this surgery has been quite an adventure. Today I aquired my new "wheels." This I will use while I am not allowed to put my foot on the floor (basically for 6 weeks) and then even for a while beyond that. This is called a Roll Around. Kind of cool little "toy," and I am wondering how to keep the kids from playing on it! LOL My knee sits on the seat, and then my left foot will be on the floor to push myself around on. It even has brakes on the handle bars! And check out the nifty little basket in front. All I need now is a horn! LOL

So yesterday, I decided to go shopping for a new recliner for me to sleep in after my surgery. This is what I came home with!!!

For my surgery on my ankle!!! What did you think I was getting married? Haa haa haa! OK, so on March 12, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. (They won't need much anesthesia, cause I will still be dead asleep at that hour!!) My surgery time is 7:30. I forgot to ask how long it will take, but judging from the description he gave me of all he will do, it doesn't sound like a very quick trip! I'll spare you all the gory details, and skip over to the recovery. I will not be able to put weight on my right foot for 6 weeks. That means no driving for 6 weeks! :gasp: After that I will be in the walker boot again, and can hopefully tolerate going back to work. So, here's the open invite... anyone who wants to come visit and keep me company while I am all cooped up in my house, you have an open invitation... unfortunately, you'll have to do the cooking, and maybe a little cleaning but I would sure love to have ya! LOL

My Poor Babies!!!

I did this week the one thing I never thought I would do to a cat. I had the babies declawed. I figured they will not become outside cats, and I cannot have them tearing up my home, so I did it. Didn't have too much time to think about it. I called my Vet at Veterinary Express and was asking about it, and decided to make an appointment. He then and there told me he could pick them up in a bit. Wow.. no time to think, and that was a good thing! I really like Dr. Trey Rogers, he is very caring and is wonderful with all my pets, plus you can't beat that he will come to you!! The babies for this procedure had to go spend the night with the doctor. They came home in less than 24 hours, and he said they are doing wonderful. They have only slept since they got home, and what moving around they have done looks painful. I am feeling a lot of guilt now, but know in the end it will have been worth it. (I hope) Here are some pictures of my poor babies!

The top one is Oliver who by the way weighed in at 12.5 pounds. Garfield on the bottom weighed 9.3 pounds! They look so pitiful... my poor babies!

The first is who we call Fat Bird. He sits in a bush near my car every morning when I take Timothy to the bus. I am hoping to get a better photo of him, but I love the way this one turned out!!!

And this is of course a "baby" This happens to be Garfield. He isn't usually in front of the camera as much as Oliver, cause this is where he lives... on top of my cabinet!!!

Quartet Competition!

Tonight Fortune competed in the county's Barbershop Quartet Competition. The girls sang "Ten Feet Off the Ground" and "My Mother's Rosary" both in perfect harmony! I was so proud of them all!!! They won 2nd place out of the 10 women's quartets competing. Here they are with their very proud Choral Ensemble director! (Katie is the next to last one!!!)
